Boat Stalls then Problem Disappears

We have a 2003 Boston Whaler Sport with 40 HP Mercury motor which we use in a shallow saltwater bay. On occasion we hit the bottom and the motor stalls. It cannot be restarted and the tilt does not work. When pulled in after a few hours everything works fine. Take boat to repair shop they can find nothing.

Any Ideas - we are afraid to use boat without known cause and solution???

sounds like you have a short in the wiring eather in the control box or wiring going to it.

I to think its a wiring porblem, but along with the last poster, id look at any circuit breakers. They can cause a major headache when they are semi-bad.
