I am going to replace the 2 piece rub rail on my boat. The problem is that the front is so pointed that in order to make the bend logic tells me that the OEM replacement rub rail will deform so badly it will not be able to retain the insert. Because the existing is already broken I cannot tell if the factory placed a mitered joint their, however the insert is continous at the apex of the "point".
The boat is a 1993 Malibu Spostster Flightcraft,( the hull resembles a low profile
Jet boat). Please help!

Re: Rub Rail

Welcome to iboats.

Wow replacement rub rail is a PITA........ actually ALL rub rails are a PITA.

First Question...... what's wrong with the old one and is there any way to save it??

There is a current one piece rail? No MITRE cut or bevel?

You will have to start at the bow (the middle of the rail) and feed both sides at the same time if you have that much of a point.

Keep this in mind.....rub rail is best applied with heat and it needs to be kept soft and pliable
