new sterndrive now boat won't reverse

I bought a rebuilt sterndrive and installed it. Now my boat has no reverse or neutral it just goes forward and full throttle no matter where the throttle is. Any ideas?

Did you have the shifter in forward gear when you removed the old and installed the new one? Are you sure you have the "shifter foot" in the "shoe"?
I would start there, and make sure your shifter fork is not bound up...

Yes on the first thing. I am pretty sure on the other.

Is it possible that I could have put it in the shoe backwards? Would that cause my problems?

I would start with that. Double check your work. If the throttle worked before I would suspect a cable binding up...

Also welcome to iboats. Check out the adults only section and download the manual for your outdrive. Thats a great place to start...
