Evinrude Sportwin 9 1/2

I just bought an Evinrude Sportwin 9 1/2, but the guy did not know the year. The model # is 9122R. The Serial # is J12668. Can any tell me the year of this motor. Thanks

Thanks for the help. The motor starts right up, shifts fine. I am not getting the water to 'spit out' when I was running it in a tank last night!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully easily fixed. Thanks

The water pump needs to be submerged when running in a bucket, so you need to have the water level up to the bottom of the midsection.

On the water, the propeller pushes water into the primary water intake just above it, so there is not as great a need for concern.

Thanks. I was trying to use the hose and muffler like other motors and was getting no luck. I will put it in the water tonight. Thanks again.

Weird design...muffs won't work!

My 20hp just dropped a cyl so I just pulled the "spare" motor out last night for the weekend. It's a 71 9.5 and was getting no water coming out using muffs and was wondering about that. I shut it down after about a min or so. Hopefully I didn't do any damage!

Bucket time!

You should check the impeller; it only takes a few seconds without water to tear them up.
