Hole in hull repair question

Got help earlier on hull repair..Question is the outside of hull necessary to repair? (more a looks thing than strutural?)...If I am filling the hull from the inside and the repair putty goes through to the outside to wax paper and sets "flat"..Would not that suffice?..And what exactly is "V" out the outside of hull?..Is that to expose putty to CSM it too? (or gelcoat)

I had to go back and check your other posts, saw the damage, but you never said exactly how you fixed it. If you fixed it as advised, then doing anything to the outside is up to you, its only cosmetic.
