I have a 1973 fish and ski tri hull. It is pritty heavy and I was wondering if i took the foam out from under the floors would it hurt any thing or should i just leave it.....

Thanks

The foam is there to ensure that your boat doesn't hit the bottom of the lake. It doesn't protect the boat from filling up with water, just so that you will have something to hang onto and later to pull out and salvage.

Your choice, the foam don't weigh much unless it's waterlogged. Then it might need to be pulled out and replaced; by then you might be ready for stringers as well.......

good luck on that one. i tried to get some of mine out and it was very difficult. the foam is supposed to provide extra buoyancy in case the boat takes on water but if its soaked well its not really doing much in that regard. some boats use the foam to help support the floor. what i wound up doing is chipping out the bottom 4 inches as much as i could since that was what was really soaked and replacing only the bottom 4 inches. jamestown distribuitors sells the foam much cheaper than most places i've seen.
