The last year of the 35hp models was 1959. You must have a 40hp if it is a '64. Use Champion J6C plugs gapped to .030".

The motor cover says it is a 35 H.P ,but the boat title says it is 64
Would the plugs and gap be the same?

Thanks

.020 and .030 cover omc motors for many many years..020 being points gap and .030 being the plug gap.boat title .numbers etc mean didlly squat for the engine as it could of been changed a hundred times by now .look for a rectangular metal plate on the motor transom bracket or the number off of a metal welch plug on the motor proper.post results.

The proper plug is a J4C.

You might have a 33hp but they didn't make a 35hp in the 60's. as mentioned, look for the model number on the transom plate. The plugs are pretty much the same though.

Most model's from about 1958 on, and with conventional magneto ignition, and equiped with a thermostat used J4C gapped at .030.
