1959 35 hp seahorse magneto?

Thinking about dragging dads old boat out of storage. This old 35 have a magneto? Boat has never maintained charge on battery.

"Magneto" as generally used on old outboards refers to the ignition system. Yes it has one of those.

Now, if you mean "Generator" or "Alternator" for charging the battery, the answer is no, not as supplied from the factory. However, a DC generator kit was available as an accessory. If you have one, it will be obvious--sitting opposite the starter motor and driven by a notched belt.

These motors are very similar to the Gale outboads of the 50s and 60s.
You will get more detailed help in the Evinrude/Johnson forum.Routine ignition ,fuel system and cooling parts are readily available here at iboats, and many other sources on the internet or even in your neighborhood.Rugged,easy to work on and reasonably powerful if a little thirsty.

Definetly a thirsty critter, run a gallon jug dry in less than 15 minutes. Guess best solution is to carry a spare deep cycle and gas can.
