Hello,

I have a 1992 115 Merc. The steering has been getting stiff so I was going to take the cable out, clean it or replace it. For the life of me I can not get the cable out from the engine pivot. Through this form I built a tool out of 3/4 pipe and fed BB blaster and WD 40 through the pivot and through the cable (until it came out the helm) with an air compressor hook up. as of now I am still un able to remove the cable.

I unbolted the cable sleeve and from there I believe the only thing to do is drive the piston rod (from the other side) through the sleeve. I get to the point were there is about 1 inch of rod showing and it stops, I put at screw driver in the hole of the rod and it spins easily.

Any tricks? Am I missing a step?

Thank you
