I just purchased an old 19' 1973 rincon ski boat with a 1974 rude 135 on it. I bought this just to put the motor on my 17' 1993 astro bass boat to get me through the tournament season. The motor came with a 13x19 alum prop on it. With that prop I had a top speed of 40mph GPS at 5000rpm, And it wouldnt get out of the hole without my passenger getting up on the front deck. Yesterday I ran the boat with a 13 3/4x15 prop and it took off like a drag boat and had a top speed of 38mph gps at 5600 rpm. I think I should go with a 17p prop but I dont know what diameter. The 13 3/4x15 was badly damaged. In fact, I had to straighten it with a hammer before we left for the lake. I will be buying a new one of those as well.

Don't worry about the diameter, if the prop is intended for your motor/boat combo the diameter will follow.
It would be good to get us as much info as possible.read the stickies at the top of the page. The height of the motor can be critical Should be raised to a point just before venting(cavitation) becomes a problem. The right prop will allow the best height.

Re: 74' rude 135 prop

The prop hieght is kind of a tricky thing with this boat. The vent plate is 3 inchis above the pad, but the pad is set back a foot in front of the transom and I have a 6 inch set back jack plate. I could go a bit higher but it makes venting a problem in the turns. I was wondering aboat diamiter because it afects rpm and thrust. I have ordered two props tonight, one is the 13 3/4x15 and the other is a 13 1/4x17 both are vented hustlers. I am hopeing the vents help.

You will find that the 13.75 x 15p is not vented, only the 17p and higher hustlers are vented. You can always drill vent holes yourself, but try the 17p first. If it works (and it probably will), you can return the 15p.
