1973 evinrude 65hp outboard spark problem

Hello all
I have a problem... was out slow trolling with my 1965 evinrude( Model # 65373r) when it jsut abruptly died and would crank over but not start... thought i might have flooded but now know once i got it home that there is no spark to my plugs.... what could fail that quick and make it so i have no spark???? coils..trigger switch...where do i start

Remove spark plugs. Double check spark which should jump a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame.... a real SNAP!

If no spark, disconnect the large RED electrical connector at the engine, then check spark again by using a jumper from the large battery terminal of the starter solenoid to the small 3/8" nut on the solenoid that energizes the starter circuit.

If you now have spark BUT do not with the RED connector plugged together, replace the ignition switch.

If still no spark, the usual problem is a failed powerpack.
