Cooling a 350 Mag with an Alpha outdrive

I have a 1999 Crownline that used to have a 5.7 vortec with 2 barrell carb that crapped out on me so I put a 350 mag mpi in it out of a 02 Crownline. The only problem that I have ran into is that it has a sea water pump on the motor and my alpha drive has the impeller to cool the system. So I was wondering if I can run them in series and be safe or if I need to choose one or the other? I could pull the sea water pump and replace it with an idler pulley but will the alpha drive impeller be enough to cool this bigger motor? Or can I buy a pick up system for the sea water pump and just plug off the hose from the alpha drive? I don't want the outdrive to heat up and crap out either. Has anyone else ran into this problem and if so what did you do to resolve it?

From what I know you can run either one and be fine. If you run the engine mounted pump just remove the impeller from the drive. Put everything back together like it had the impeller and the engine mounted pump will use the drive for the pickup. Kinda like a bravo. You could also use the drive pump without the engine pump, but you now have a better setup with the engine pump. Easier to maintain and a better pump. You just need the hoses routed like a bravo for it to work.

Easier to convert would be use the drive pump alone.
Better would be to convert to the engine pump.

The Alpha pump should be enough to cool it by itself.
If you run them together one could fail and block the other.
To cool the drive you can get drive coolers that bolt to the outside of your drive and as you run cooling water is dumped on the drive.
They might be available on this site so look here.If not then google outdrive cooler and lots of sites come up.J

Do you forsee a problem with running them together? It has a gen II alpha which has a bigger impeller that should supply enough to the sea pump. It should also work nicely to prime the system. The only worrie I have is the hose collapsing between them so I'm going to put in one that is reinforced with wire. What are your thoughts?
