I purchased a used trailer for my 29' Monterey and I wanted to make modifications to the trailer to make loading and unloading easier. Currently the trailer has a Y-Bar mounted to a cross member to support the bow.

I've purchased 2x6's, carpet, brackets and hardware to install two bow bunk boards and remove the Y-Bar. My problem is that there is a scupper/strainer in the hull of the boat in the location where I need to position the new bow bunk boards.
Is it ok for the scupper/stainer to rest on the new boards without damage since the vessel weighs around 7000lbs?

Re: Intake scoop/strainer

Why would you want to put several hundred pounds of weight on that? Seems to me it will eventually if not the first moment stress the hole, thus cracking the hull. I am no engineer but the best way to break a piece of glass is to make a weak point and apply pressure
