I just bought a 1980 17 foot tri-hull Imperial with the original 75 horse Chrysler outboard. I was told it ran well, until it sucked a bunch of junk through the carbs when someone used a vacuum line for a gas line. The guy I bought it from burnt out the starter trying to get it going again after he replaced the fuel pump, and cleaned out the carbs. I just got my new replacement starter installed today, and without the plugs it will spin like crazy, with them, it goes around maybe 1/2 to 1 revolution and stops. Suggestions?

Anyone got a manual for this thing or anything? I don't even know if the firing order is correct or not. My experience is mainly with smaller Force and Evinrude outboards.

firing order is 1-2-3 top-middle-bottom.

Clean and tighten all electrical connections on starter, solenoid, battery terminals, and the neg battery cable on the motor.
