Dies in Reverse on Muffs

I have motor that keeps dying on the muffs when shifting into reverse?? I have recently adjusted the shift cable due to it not entering reverse??


1973 I/O inline 6 165hp
Mercrusier motor and outdrive
Model one outdrive i believe

when you shift into reverse, does the shift interupter activate? May be a sign the lower cable is going bad.

Yes i believe it does i can see the Y moving, and the shifter interupter moving but i am not sure how it quite works on the Y ??? how do i isolate it inorder to check this??

You can't adjust anything on the muffs.It has to be done in the water.
Take it to the lake/river and tie it to the pier.Then adjust it.J

Of course you can adjust it on the muffs.

lower shift cable...more than likely
$75...no more stalling :)
