Have a 1997 Force 120 #OE272077. Problem I'm having is that the starting battery does not keep a charge while on the lake. The other day I took my son out fishing for a couple of hours, moved a short distance a few times with no problems. When then picked up to leave, motor started a little slow, but started. I ran around the lake full throttle for about 15 minutes or so and when i got to the launch, I could not even raise the motor with the trim. I load tested all of my batteries and they are all fine. I metered between the two yellow wires coming from the regulator to the stator with the motor at idle and got 14vac. I metered the red wire to ground from the regulator at idle and got 12.7vdc and at 2000 rpm and got 14vdc. Does anybody have any other suggestions to check and as to what the problem might be? Any help is very much appreciated, Thanks. Oh, also while on the lake, I did not have any electronics or radio running at all as I have been experiencing these problems as of late and wanted to try to isolate the problem.

Re: Battery Discharging

You measured the voltage output (14 volts @ 2000 RPM) right at the regulator? Try measuring the voltage at the battery. You may have a corroded battery cable? Anyways, you should measure a minimum of 14 volts at the battery too. Make sure the battery ground connection to the engine block is good and corrosion free.
