I just bought a 1988 bay with a 125 hp force motor and each time I try and star the engine, I first of all flood it and then after waiting for it to clear finally get it started, but she smokes constantly especially at idle speeds and then today I noticed fuel laying by the primer pump any ideas for the newbie to boating?

I would start with a compresson check. If all checks out OK then your hoses and primer bulb may need replacing. Since this boat is new to you it is probably a good idea to get carb kits, new floats, replace the fuel pump diaphragm and maybe new spark plugs. A decarb couldn't hurt either.

Clogged fuel recirculation system causes those symptoms.

I've got a 89 bayliner with 125 force. I had trouble with needle valve in carb sticking allowing it to flood. It's needle valve that float is supposed to close when carb bowl fills up.
