Thought I'd share this as it took a loooong time to resolve.
Motor would run fine, had good power, then with the randomness of a wave, major performance loss. Then, any random time period later, VROOM to full power again. Could happen at idle or WOT, cool or warm.
Very recently, it just always ran poorly, never exceeding 4k RPM, and with no holeshot like normal.
Plugs checked.
Compression checked.
Carbs not a prob.
stator: ok.
rectifier diode. ok.
advance: max ok.
gas delivery: ok.
coils: all good and firing.
When finally I could not name a component I had not checked, I bought a new powerpack.
Like a symphony to my ears, she purred at idle, and roared at WOT.
