so my shorelandr trailer bow post has moved farther up the trailer. I'm guessing about 3-4 inches, maybe more. it is a single axle roller trailer hauling a lund tyee 1850. about how much of the boat do i want hanging off the back set of rollers? or is it all about tongue weight? right now i'd put it close to 250 lbs. the boat is an I/O if that matters. the post looks like it has been everywhere from 10 inches both ways in the past, so i don't have a reference where it should be.

Re: trailer post moved?

You want the last set of rollers to be under the transom.

If it is like most shoreland'r trailers, the last crossmember of the trailer, the axle, and the winch post, are all moveable.

If you move all 3 back, you will have an easier tome launching and loading.

Move the crossmember and rollers back.

Then move the boat back.

Then move the winch post back.

Then move the axle to get your tongue weight.

right now the last rollers are about 2" in from the edge of the transom. does this mean i should move the axle foward and leave the rollers and post where they are? sounds pretty easy if so, i like it!

Re: trailer post moved?

Your Lund weighs 1500#, plus fuel and gear, so you are pushing 2000. plush the trailer.

250 tongue weight is ok.
If you move the axle forward 4 inches, you will lose about 50# of tongue weight. trial and error.

just double checking the weight you posted, i was under the impression that the motor and drive were approx 850 lbs. the boat feels alot heavier that 2000 lbs. it is a 4.3 merc alpha one. while towing, it feels closer to 3000 lbs + have yet to get it weighed, but hope to soon.
