1988 Mercruiser 7.4 oil cooler ?????

My friends just bought a 1988 26 foot sea ray with the 454 in it. we was getting it ready to launch and noticed the power steering, oil cooler was leaking, he took it off and found a crack on it. my question is can we splice the oil lines together temporarily and put a power steering cooler I have off a 260 on?

sure can , but the crack was caused by a failure to winterize.

yeah I figured that. The person he bought it from is going to send him a check for the part as they are standing behind the boat. but my friend wants to take it and slip it this weekend.
