Stupid battery/safety question...

I have a small plastic dinghy. I want to put a trolling motor on it. I'm worried about the battery getting wet. I've read about people getter shocked on aluminum boats when batteries got wet. This little dinghy has a patched spot on it and I'm worried about it possibly sinking while I'm out on it on a lake. If I'm on the dinghy and it sinks with the battery on it, will I be in danger of getting electricuted? I've seen trolling motors on little pontoon chair things. Or even kayaks....how unsafe/safe is this. Thanks! and sorry for the stupid question, hopefully someone can take the time to toss up some insight on this.

Re: Stupid battery/safety question...

The stories you've heard are untrue. You do not get shocked from 12 volts DC and no you will not be electrocuted by 12 volts DC if the boat sinks.

lol, thanks! feels better being 100% sure, rather than just unsure. Again, thanks!
