Hi all,
Having a very difficult problem getting this motor to run. Here's the problem. Ran three years ago, rough. Sat since then and now will not start. The carbs are clean, jets open and gas fresh. All three cylinders have 105 for compression. The plugs are new, and the points are gapped and polished up. THe engine has a strong blue spark when arcing from a spark tester. The plugs will come out wet after a few tries at cranking, but not soo wet as to reflect a flooding condition. Everything seems to be in order but I simply cannot get this engine to fire. It has to be ignition related becasue I cannot get the motor to even fire a little. I had an extra amplifier from a parts motor that I was told ran (but I could not verify) so I put that in and still the same problem. It has a brand new distributor cap in it since the old one had carbon tracking and tiny cracks in it. That was replaced four years ago. I polished the rotor terminals and reassembled everything. Timing is set vs fuel. Like I said it has strong spark outside the engine but it seems like it will not spark inside the engine. I'm at a loss of explaination here. Does any one have any unique or extensive experience in dealing with these engines? I'd hate to junk the motor because it used to be so reliable and fun. I've owned it since 1974! Any insight is appreciated!
