hi all. this is my first visit as a member. i must have liked what i saw in the past as ive now joined.
i have just bought an old 70's 115hp tower of power 2 stroke outboard. it starts and runs fine. ive just discovered a hole in the side of the engine. as you stand at the rear of the engine and look round to the rear of the left hand side near to you at the bottom is a hole which when running pumps water out in to the cowl. im not sure what was there or what to do about it. i have supplied photos and can send anyone vids if i have an email address. can anyone help or advise?. many many thanks to all.

If it looks like a factory hole,I had a 67 900 that had a hose on it for a water pump pressure gauge I plugged it, made no difference. This may be it?

I have 3 merc 115s and this is a common problem. What you are looking at is a corroded exhaust cover. You can go online and buy one for about 160 new, or look on craigslist for an engine being sold for parts in your area.
You will need to go online for the gasket (about 5 dollars or so)
Check this site out.

I have also talked to guys who just slap some marine tex on the hole as well!
