Alright... I'm finally going to do it. I've been putting it off for 14 years now. the last time I had this boat in the water was 1996. The floor was soft so I ripped it out only to find out that I was going to be laid off. Off in the barn she went. After years of bat guano piled up on it, I decided to finally finish what I started. Now I am asking for ideas The boat is gutted but I still have some remnants of fiberglass from the ski box and the base of the stringers. What would be the best tool to clean this up and start installing the floor. Plus, does it really need the foam under the floor?

Here's some photos of the boat. The 'flooring' is what I took out of the boat and I am going to use for a template for new wood. I need to make two stringers from stern to bow and a few cross members... Then glass it all in, add the floor and glass it all in again... Any thing I should know before getting into this project?

Go to the hull extention thread by Ooop's you will find more info in there than you will ever need besides the project is a SeaRay with similar lines to yours. good luck!

Thanks.. That thread will have me reading for days. Actually, I remember seeing that thread last year when I had the urge to tackle this project but the urge is as far as I got... This year is different!!! I'm GONNA DO IT!

How important is the foam under the floor? and what would be the cheapest material to do it and how much does it run

Now keep in mind I have no real hands on experience in this resto thing but have read just about every thread here and Ooops thread has the info needed in a nut shell. But the floatation foam issue has been beat to death here if it were me I would use what I would consider the most cost effective and practical material contruction isulating board it's pink and or blue and can be had at any lowes home depot or contractors supply house it doesn't absorb water and allows drainage just cut to fit the space available but I would also seal the cut edge to ensure no compromise of it's protective sealed shell. Hope this helps and good luck.
