I have recently purchased a 1998 23' i/o fiberglass that has cracking in the gel coat around the drain plug. it is also starting to show faint signs of cracking around the stern drive. the drain plug is located right below the stern drive. my questions are does this need to be fixed immediately am I looking at a more serious problem structurally or is it just because someone overtighten the drain plug? related question the boat does not have trim tabs. Is this putting unneeded stress around the stern drive. should i put trim tabs on this boat. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
