I recently repaired the water pump on my 9.9 hp to find out that i am also missing the shift shaft from the engine to the lower spline. I was able to take an old shaft out of a 7.5hp and now my only problem is not being able to install the new upper shift shaft to the lower spline. There seems to be a plastic piece blocking the shaft from the spline and im ready to just drill on thru it. If anybody has any idea what im talking about i could really use the help. Thanks
