puppy teeth

When a puppy loses a tooth, is it the whole tooth or just the top of it? I found the top of a tooth on the floor that looks like a molar.

Just went thru this with my lab. Odd shaped pieces of teeth fell out of his face for a month. The molars looked like caps. No roots at all on any teeth. Good thing is the new teeth are not nearly as sharp!!;)

It is the whole tooth. Just went through that with our doodle. Thank god they are gone. Three little kids and puppy teeth don't mix well.
