I rebuilt the carburetor, fuel pump, replaced fuel lines and in the process mangled the screen inside the fuel pump cap. To correct for the loss of the screen I installed a Johnson/Evinrude inline filter as my dealer did not have any replacement screens for the cap. Is the fuel pump on the Evinrude 25 hp able to pump enough to keep the filter full and safely operate? Or should I try to find a new screen for the pump cap and remove the inline filter?
