Hello, I am new to this forum and have already learned alot from other post. So here is my problem. I have a 1988 Johnson. The model # on the mounting bracket is J150stlcca. The cover says 150 GT, I dont think it is a gt. The vro system has been removed. I have ran it twice nad cannot get more than 40 mph at WOT. Its on a 87 19' VIP fish and ski. I did a compression test and all were very close t0 80#, the lowest was 78#. The leak down test read 20% on all but one and it was 30%. At top end the motor will sputter and chatter, and sometimes will just cut out totalty for a sec or two. Any way take a look at the cylinders and see if anyone can see anything wrong. There appears to be rust in some cylinders and scratches and few really shinny spots. Should this get a rebuild? Thanks in advanced for your help.
