Can I reverse a vp outdrive? make it a right hand rotation?

i have a 290 vp drive it is currently running lh rotation. some one told me you can swith the cable on the out drive or control and it will run rh rotation any ideas? or is he nuts? i have rh props thats why i ask!:

not stupid, just easy to answer. If you take the cover plate off the middle section, you will see a bar that is connected to the shift cable. Just move it all to the other side. should be pictures in the manual, which is in the do not enter section above.

thats the nice thing about the cone clutch volvo, simply switch the shift linkage,sometimes you have to do it at the control box and change the props and go play.

DO NOT change it at the control box.
If you do you will mess up the reverse lock function.

Inside the back cover of the drive is a decal that shows how to change direction.
