i need to buy a new starter for my 1999 Merc Force 120 HP. It looks really simple to take the current one off and install the new one. I see two long screws with bolts, and one at the base connecting a wire. Is it that simple?? Is all that is need is to undo the top two bolts, and the bottom, then install the other one.

do i need to do anything else with it once i replace it>

Re: Installing new starter

Check the bottom of the new starter there may be a threaded hole for an "L" bracket to help support it still just one more screw if it has one . If it does take the bracket loose from the block then remove top nuts and starter , transfer bracket , leave it a little loose on starter so you can recenter it to bolt to block then tighten up on bottom of starter.

Re: Installing new starter

Most of the starters are held on with the two nuts on the top engine casting and an L bracket on the lower crankcase.

MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST OR YOU WILL LIKELY BECOME AN ARC WELDER!!!
