4.3 V6 (2bbl) in a 2000 Stingray.
Motor Serial# L642312
Drive Serial# L722749
I noticed water dripping from the Engine Circulating Water Pump this past weekend.
From the Service Manual:
Cleaning and Inspection
1. Clean gasket surfaces on water pump and cylinder block.
2. Inspect water pump for blockage, cracks, sand holes, corrosion or other damage.
Inspect pump impeller for cracks and erosion. Replace complete pump if any damage
exists.
3. Check impeller shaft and bearings for excessive side play. If play can be felt, replace
complete pump.
4. Inspect pump pulley for bends, cracks, corrosion or other physical damage. Inspect
pulley for rotational trueness. Replace pulley if damaged or untrue.
It sounds like the entire pump should be replaced? Could anyone give me a hand with the OEM part number? Mercury Parts Express is very cryptic. I am also looking to order some tune up related parts...any tips on easily finding the correct parts based on engine serial number? Thanks!
