motor stalls and wont refire

I have a 67 johnson 33 hp outboard, I changed the ignition switch out because my buddy lost the keys. When I go to put the boat back on the trailer the motor stalls out and then does nothing when I try to restart it, no attempt to crank or anything. I got the switch from autozone

did you use an ordinary car switch?or did you use a switch for a 2 stroke ,magneto fired ,outboard?a reg auto switch wont do

i used a lawnmower switch that worked fine i changed the switch again the other day and that didnt help
