Looking over a Evinrude 115 1983 I bought, I find there is no zinc anode in the space just above the cavitation plate. Instead there is a plastic "block filler" Evinrude pn. 324284. Also I can find no other anode anywhere else on the engine. Any thoughts. Thanks

Re: No zinc

Zinc or aluminum anodes are widely used in salt water.

Aluminum or magnesium anodes are widely used in fresh water and are recommended unless the water is chemically neutral. Many lakes and rivers in the USA are very acid.

Anodes are also recommended when boats are moored or docked near other boats.
