Does the choke have a separate switch to activate at the forward controls or is it automatic with the key turned to start?

turn the key on and push the key in you should here a click the just keep pushing in as you start it... as long as you have the us marine controls that came originally with force engines in those years. pull your hood off to verify operation of the choke and that its working properly

Re: choke question 120hp '91 Force

If the motor is a 1991D model, or newer, it will not have a choke solenoid.
Instead, it will have a fuel enrichment valve, or primer.
This valve dumps fuel directly into the intake, behind the carb.

So instead of having a solenoid that actuates the carb buttterflies, there is a valve with a fuel line running into it, then a fuel line that runs up into the manifold.

Operation is the same.
Push in on the key and hold it in, while turning the key.
Fuel will be dumped into the manifold.

Thanks chaps. This '91 model has the solenoid and it does have the US marine controls. The engine is almost completed from a strip down and P/head O/H.
