I have a 14ft aluminum boat that was manufactured in the early 1940's. I bought it from a guy that his grandfather bought new. It has never been registered and has no ID Plate on it. Doesnt even have a Manufacturers name. So how can I tell what year it is or by what manufacturer? I know the man very well and I knew his grandfather, so I know it is legit.

Hull ID came out in about 1972 in the USA.

If you dont know who made it you might have to put an ID plate on it and say you made it? The coast guard has a site that shows you how to do that.

Nathan, here in MS if your boat doesn't have a serial number when you purchase it the Departmenet of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks will assign you one. I had an old hull with no serial number on it and they assigned one and told me to engrave the number on the transom. I'm sure AR will do the same. Just contact the boat registration folks and show them your bill of sale.
