I'm in the process of converting a Merc 20hp from tiller to remote steering. I have everything (I think) connected and the process has been fairly easy. However, I'm @ the point where I'm testing the steering from lock to lock and I've noticed a "slight" clearance issue between the steering link arm and the "knuckle" where the tiller arm is attached to motor when turning port. I was hoping to keep the tiller arm attached for those "just in case" predicaments but can't seem to tell if removal would cure my problem. Does the tiller arm, in fact, HAVE to be removed when converting tiller to remote steering?
