2005 Bayliner 185BR with the 3.0L. So! Very! Excited!

The tachometer is stuck at 2500 RPMs whether on or off, which tells me that it needs replacing, yes? So is there a step-by-step guide anywhere that can help me with that? I have never done any work on engines or electronics; maybe I should just tow her to the marine mechanic and have them do it?

Check all the connections first. There should only be a positive, negative, and a pulse feed (at least that's how outboard units are). I'm thinking yours may not be getting power as mine sits at about 1000 until you turn the key on and it zeros out.
