Thank you guys for your help and encouragement,it's one sweet running motor,now. It started as two seized 7.5 mid-70s blue band Mercs,one head,one gearcase. I used the best parts from each one.So following your advice, I also rebuilt the carb and changed the impeller.
Your responses to my question about easy starting had me checking the leads,one had resistance.I changed it. This time I got a cough with the first pull and a start with the third. Practice may improve even that. And the idle is smooth,a cat's purr is rougher.
And wonders of wonders, I have nice stream from the tell-tale. After I cleaned the right angle nipple from the block,that is. Also a suggestion.
