Ok guys.
I have an early 70s model 50 HP merc thunderbolt and was going across the river and all of the sudden my prop stopped spinning and the engine reved up. My mechanic guy says my lower has gone bad, and it isnt worth fixing. I have found a 80s model 50 HP thunderbolt with a good lower and i was wondering if they would swap out. I know its vague, but i am not sure how to look out what year model my motor is.
Please help.
