I have a Johnson 1971 125 horse motor, Model 125ESL71C:
Boat was running good tell a fuse popped right next to the starter it is a 30 amp fuse as big as your finger nail replace the fuse now the boat does not have any spark? The fuse popped due to a 3 way switch that went bad. On the backside of the motor there is a coil and a mega amplifier is it common for one of those to go bad? How can I find out if one of these parts went bad? I have attached a picture of the coil and amplifier. Can you get me in the right direction?

If one of these parts commonly goes bad do you have these parts in stock?

Thanks Jim,

That is where I am at, the keyswitch turns the engine over, cranks with a lot of power> good there. I am just down to the coil or Amplifier dont know how offen this would go bad.

No spark all cylinders?

BTW, I've not worked on a motor with the same ignition as yours ... an OEM shop manual would be invaluable here, as there are some very expensive ignition parts involved. I wouldn't hazard a guess at this point as to what's bad.
