Hi guys I have a 1995 3cyl 50 hp johnson that runs about 78 C at idle speed on the muffs .Is this to hot does anyone know,This motor was just rebuilt thx

i don't know about C, but it should run at 140 F to 160 F.

78 is 161F so it's on the hotter side.

no. thermostats do now need break in.

Shouldn't make a difference - break in or not. Did you rebuild it yourself?

I rebuilt it myself and changed the thermostat there is a good stream of water coming from the pee tube.

Test it in the water,my bet says it runs cooler.

Did you notice water deflectors when you had the head off? Were they replaced @ the time of rebuild? I can run my V4 on muffs @ 135 @ idle all day long, something is up.

78 degrees C is is 172 dedegrees F......A bit on the high side I believe.
