problems finding out what yr my motor is

i have a mercury 9.8 with the serial number 5640397. i think its a 1981 but not sure . im pretty sure it needs a water pump since its not pissing and im having a hard time finding what all i need . were can i order the water pump kit for this short shaft motor . any help would be great thanks.

for that serial no.,its probably a 1980.range is 55-------TO 59--------,that range is for 1980-1981.as parts,just do a search.i found in 2min an impeller for $12 and change and waterpump repair kit for $44 and change.many parts place out there.good luck

thanks fellas , i found a water pump but no luck on the kit , what all is included in the kit im really new to the whole outboard, never had one before and just picked up two decent motors for free but they both need water pumps. what website did u find this under for the kit . im in need of the mercury 9.8 water pump and a evinrude 6 hp from 1966.. i would like to buy both from the same place if necessary . thanks alot i wasnt sure if i could still find parts to these and i cant afford taking these into a shop couple hours away from me just for a water pump an around 70 bucks an hour for labor. is this an easy fix by just unbolting the lower unit an replacing the water pump or is there more involved .
