Hello everyone I am not familiar with boats and there engines and I need help. I have recently purchased a 1979 Procraft from an old coworker it has a Mercury 80 HP engine pushing it along. Things have been a little shaky since then, I have found that the front floor boards are soft and literally I can push my finger through it I don?t know how to get the old board out so I can replace it. Also the engine finally runs after cleaning out the carb but will bog down and shut off if I bring the throttle bellow the natural zone on the shift handle. Or at idle this totally sucks. I can use all the advice I can get. Will post pics soon.

There is a link and synch posting for that motor on this forum.

In a nutshell, you need to synch the idle timing with the carb opening. Then you need to set max spark advance. Finally you need to set minimum throttle stop. For all you know your throttle stop is set wrong.

BTW - The carbs need to be clean and floats adjusted properly for this to work.
