Thanks to all the advice I've received here on iBoats, I'm much more confident about doing my own mechanical work. That's a good thing, since I own a Cobra.

I've performing a transom service and reconditioning my drive. The pivot housing is off except for the shift cable. The hollow nut that seals the shift cable to the pivot housing is frozen. Of course it's so close to the sidewall of the housing I can't get a flare nut wrench completely over it. Does anyone have a suggestion how to free the nut, possibly by dissolving the corrosion?

This may sound weird but I've painted Coca Cola on frozen fittings I cannot get to break loose. Coke and Pepsi will dissolve rust so that may help you.
