Hi guys, I've been reading the forum here for a while, and read some interesting stories of you guys building up some nice boats out of not much. I figured I'd post some photos of mine and my sons project boat. We've had it since august. Bought it off ebay for very little. The guy threw in a 302 mercruiser engine. The boat apparently originally had a 350 chevy. I sent the engine and interior off shortly after buying the boat. We got the boat in the shop here and after inspecting the transom we saw that it was gonna have to be replaced. Which we did. The transom in this boat is not easy to get to.

The left side of the boat had some pretty good gouges that someone had attempted repairing and spot painting sometime in the past. They looked pretty rough. The hull also had some other stress cracks in the gel coat which we repaired. I struggled with whether or not to paint this boat because I knew it would be a big project. I wanted to buff most of the stuff out and live with the rest, but the other side of me couldn't live with it, so we jumped in. We got the hull painted from the rub rail down a week ago and hope to paint most of the upper part in a week or so.

Here's some photos of where we are now...

My sons sanding with DA's (26 foot hull, lotsa sanding)

The boat will seat 8 adults up top and has an aft berth...

We're on the way to getting the engine together (302 ford .030 over, bigger cam, etc.)...

Thanks guys, looking forward to getting this thing done. Hope to be getting some primer on the rest of the boat (except for the cockpit, it'll be last) later this week.
