Just wondering how you think

will tow

http://www.bayliner.com/get/id/45.

I have never towed much before but we are seriously considering getting a boat. The other thing I was wondering about is the manual states max speed of 72kph so I am wondering about that also. I do know the Toyota highlander has a similar statement in it's owners manual but this doesn't seem realistic to me.

The model I have is 08 so it has the 2.7 ltr and doesn't have the power as the 09/10 V6.

Re: Want to get a boat TV question

I wouldn't do it. I towed my 16' Starcraft with a FWD Buick Regal for 2 seasons (and that tin boat was probably a little lighter than that Bayliner). It towed it OK but the stopping power wasn't real good and it was clearly hard on the car. The biggest issue though was on the ramp. With the lower to the ground car, I had to back it further into the water than I was comfortable with in order to easily launch and retrieve the boat. After one particularly difficult day on the ramp, we made the decision to get an inexpensive used truck and have never looked back.

Nope. I towed a 19' Bayliner from San Francisco to Boston using a 1987 BMW 325is. Worst mistake I ever made. No stopping power going down hills and heading into places like Vail CO I was stuck in the right lane in 2nd. gear doing 25 to 30 MPH because that is as fast as I could go up the hills.

Being a small-midsize with only a 4 cylinder I'd have to say no.

Re: Want to get a boat TV question

Im sorry guys the link I copy pasted was incorect. I have a 08 Grand Vitara. I just sold my old house literaly yesterday so I would consider getting a 09 or 10 this ups the HP and torque by about 25%. The thing is it has a 103.9 in wheelbase though it is heavy for a small SUV. The type of towing I would do is mostly flat as I live in the prairies but there are a few KM with decent hills and twisty roads on the way to one of the destinations we would faily often visit. Maybe Im just paranoid.

Hah! Big difference! Yeah I'd tow that little bowrider with that all day long.
