my 1971 evinrude 9.5 sportwin cuts out at high speed

My 1971 evinrude 9.5 sportwin cuts out at high speed. It idles great and runs good at low speeds but not at high speeds. ?

Have you tried pumping the bulb at high speed, could be a weak fuel pump or the carb high speed is dirty.

I have tried pumping the ball. its also a new fuel pump. i rebuilt the carb a few months back. i'm not sure if the high speed needle is adjustable ?

It's not, was it completely disassembled, cleaned properly? What if you play with the choke while at WOT? Did you try running WOT with the cowl off?

well I cleaned the carb. She runs but still cuts out at high speed. if i pump the bulb i can keep her running. the fuel pump is 6 months old. ?

Check for problems with the lines, garbage in the them , check filter on the pump. Even though the pump is 6 months old it might be a bad pump.

She purrs like a kitten now. Thanks. I recleaned the carb but this time I ground down a screwdriver so I could pull the high speed jet. she runs great now. Thanks again.

i have a question.i used to have this same motor and loved it.
but it started popping out of gear,yet the gear shifter was still in drive.what was going on?

i put an in line fuel filter on the fuel line just before the bulb and now shes been running great ever since

what size screw driver did you use i am having the same problem, the only thing i haven't done is been able to remove the high speed needle to check it and see.
