Some of the teeth broke of the gear were the tiller hinges on the motor end. I am not sure how to take it apart. It looks like there is a pin inside but I'm not sure. Looks like the tiller handle has to come off but then I am lost. Any advice would be appreciated.

Which gear is broken , the one on the handle or on the motor?

Tiller handle should rotate up out of the way, inside where the gear is there is a circlip that needs to be removed and the gear should slide out.
