Trying to start doing some basic maintenance this spring and one of them will be to clean the flame arrestor. I have seen many posts on how to clean but not a lot on the proper removal. I have a 2008 mercruiser 190 hp i/o with an alpha 1 drive. It has a carb (not fuel injected) and is called TKS (turn key start). Could somebody give me the procedure for locating the flame arrestor, dis-assembling and re-assembling. Thank you.

Remove nut and washer, lift off Flame arrestor.
Reverse the order to reinstall.

Ayuh,... On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the Hardest,...
That would be a -27....

Up in the Adults Only section are the factory manuals...
I suggest you spend a few days Reading,...
Before you pick up a Wrench...

Tip: Avoid dropping nut and/or washer down throat of carb when removing/reinstalling flame arrestor.

I have seen it done on a car.

Don't take the flame arrester apart. Blast ti with carb cleaner, then rinse it rally well with water, and dry it with compressed air.
